Evidenced Based Health Promotion

If you are a health care professional, health minister or lay person with a chronic disease, the following information may be vital to you. Share your expertise by bringing new skills into your church or organization.  The following county residents or senior services are eligible for training through the Central Minnesota Council on Aging: 

Benton, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburn, Stearns, Todd, Wadena or Wright.

 

What is Evidence-Based Health Promotion?

An evidence-based program has been demonstrated to be effective in basic research that involved the same target audience.

It has been demonstrated to be effective in dissemination in the "real world."

There are clear protocols for training and conduct of the program so that community programs can maintain fidelity and be successful.

Evidence-based programs have demonstrated positive outcoms in:

Improved quality of life

Reduced disability

Improved mental health

Lower health care costs

The Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Board on Aging are partnering to implement evidence-based health promotion programs.  In Central Minnesota, the Central Minnesota Area Council on Aging is facilitating this process.  The priority areas of concern are:

Falls Prevention

Chronic Disease Management

Health Promotion Including Physical Activity and Healthy Eating

Blood Pressure Equipment

The St. Cloud Hospital BioMed Department will check blood pressure equipment for accuracy.  BioMed staff recommend that equipment be checked on an annual basis or anytime you have concerns about the accuracy of your equipment.
